When asked what sets his food apart, Solomon said, “Unlike today’s new cooks who are only into recreating food that hardly can withstand the test of time, I see myself as a chef who chose the opposite path.”

His approach revolves around mastering authentic techniques and honoring the methods that have been passed down for generations. “I am passionate about researching the traditional classics,” he explains. His dedication to cooking Italian dishes in what he calls “as authentic a method as I can” is a testament to his respect for the culinary heritage he has immersed himself in.

From Marketing to Mastering the Kitchen

Solomon’s journey into the culinary world is as unique as his cooking philosophy. With both a Marketing and Culinary major under his belt, Solomon graduated from the renowned At-Sunrice Global Chef Academy in 2017. Even before his formal education in culinary arts, he had already been working at iO Italian Osteria, an experience that solidified his passion for Italian cuisine.

His culinary path took an interesting turn in 2019 when health issues prompted him to spend time in Italy. During his stay with family members in Sicily and Umbria, Solomon’s strong family network helped him secure opportunities to work in local Italian restaurants. It was here, working alongside local nonnas and chefs, that he deepened his knowledge and understanding of true Italian cooking. His time in Italy allowed him to absorb the techniques and traditions that would later shape his business.

The Birth of Solomon’s Home Kitchen

In 2023, Solomon took a leap and started Solomon’s Home Kitchen, driven by both necessity and passion. When asked why he chose to open his own business, Solomon offered two key motivations. “To me, starting one’s business is not about that million-dollar idea. It’s an alternative plan in today’s working world to make sure when a job is hard to come by, one can still earn a living,” he explained.

After being forced to retire from his last kitchen job due to medical reasons, Solomon briefly pursued a career switch with Sushi Mitsuya. However, his passion for cooking could not be extinguished. His business became a way for him to continue doing what he loved, despite the challenges he faced. “I wanted to find a way where I can still continue my passion to cook professionally,” he said.

I love Italian food so much that I went to work in Italy for a short period of time to learn from the local nonnas and chefs, he shared.
